It combines the Chouka’s vario precision, XCTrack’s advanced functions and mapping, and the GPS of your smartphone.

The Chouka Smart includes all the features of the classic Chouka variometer and adds connectivity with the mobile app XCTrack.

  • The vario connects easily to XCTrack on Android via a USB OTG cable (included – choose the right type when ordering).
  • Combines the precision of the Chouka with the power of XCTrack.
  • The Chouka sound automatically turns off when connected to the smartphone, allowing you to use XCTrack’s custom audio.

XCTrack setup

  1. Install XCTrack on your Android smartphone or tablet.
  2. Connect the Chouka Smart to your smartphone (only with the supplied USB OTG cable).
  3. Turn on the Chouka Smart and launch the XCTrack app.
  4. Confirm the authorization popup.

  5. Configure XCTrack via the “Preferences” > “Sensor connection” menu:
    • “External sensor” = “USB sensor”
    • “Transmission speed for FTDI devices” = 9600

  6. After a few seconds, the Chouka Smart is recognized as an external variometer.

The story of Chouka

As an engineer passionate about paragliding and mountains, I wanted to create a light, simple, and reliable variometer. It all started with a first hand-crafted prototype, placed inside a Tic Tac box and humorously nicknamed the “Vario Tictac”. After several improvements and test flights, this first prototype evolved into the Chouka variometer.

      Si après avoir suivi la procédure indiquée dans la notice vous n’arrivez pas à établir la connexion n’hésitez pas à nous contacter si vous avez besoin de support pour connecter le vario à XCTrack.

    Marche très bien. Beaucoup plus rapide que le Vario barométrique intégré du téléphone Android ( je pense que XC contest ne marche pas sur iPhone). La batterie tient bien. Produit Français !! C’est tout bon. Du coup j’en ai offert un a mon fils qui commence le parapente…

    per chi inizia come me è un buon ausilio soprattutto un ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. Un suggerimento da parte mia è quello di mettere il cordino di un materiale resistente ma soprattutto che non resti attaccato al velcro, con il tempo si logora.

    Testé sur trois vols et connecté xctrack à mon smartphone ça fait très bien le taff. Le plus serait une connexion bluetooth, mais je ne sais pas si c’est possible
